Glass with other additional functions

Impact-resistant glass

GEWE-safe® is laminated safety glass from SCHOLLGLAS, which offers increased resistance to mechanical attacks in different structures. In the version as impact-resistant glass, it meets the resistance classes P1A to P5A (according to EN 356) thanks to special intermediate layers made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). These types of glass effectively protect against spontaneous vandalism, such as the attempt to destroy a shop window with a stone or by using your own body weight.

The special properties of impact-resistant laminated safety glass result from its structure: Several glass layers are bonded together by highly tear-resistant polymer films made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This combination ensures that the glass does not shatter and collapse when damaged, but is held together by the elastic film. Depending on the glass thickness, texture and number of intermediate layers, the safety level can be individually adjusted upwards.

Thanks to these properties, GEWE-safe® as an impact-resistant laminated safety glass makes a significant contribution to increasing building safety without having to sacrifice transparency and aesthetics. It is therefore a proven solution for the protection of people and assets in a wide range of applications.
