Insulating glass with sun protection

On sun-drenched days, living spaces, offices and shopping malls often heat up a lot, if there are air conditioners, they run at full speed – if not, residents, visitors and employees suffer from the unbridled sunlight. A first step out of the dilemma: insulating glass with a special sun protection coating efficiently reduces radiation and heat input while maintaining a bright, friendly atmosphere. For more than three decades, SCHOLLGLAS has been producing highly efficient solar control glass under the brand name GEWE-therm^® sun, and in this way makes a valuable contribution to the sustainable façade design and energy balance of large-scale glazed buildings.

The selective sun protection layers do not contradict the light input, because the glass units noticeably block the heat input, but allow a maximum of natural daylight to pass through. The results are a pleasant indoor climate in residential buildings, hotels and shopping malls as well as the increased ability of the workforce to concentrate in office buildings.

A long-term advantage of the sun protection coatings in GEWE-therm^® sun is also their effectiveness in the UV spectrum: they prevent the fading of furniture, floor coverings and works of art, thus helping to maintain the value of the interior fittings. For museums, we also recommend combining it with special UV protection films, which filter the harmful radiation even more.
