Glass
Insulating glass for structural glazing facades
Structural glazing is an innovative façade technology in which glass surfaces are connected to the supporting structure without visible mechanical fastening. Instead of classic framing, high-strength silicone adhesives or punctual mounting systems are used here. This creates a flush-mounted, homogeneous façade look. The result is an elegant, modern building envelope that meets high aesthetic standards and at the same time offers functional advantages.
This construction method not only enables maximum transparency and the use of daylight, but also contributes to the energy efficiency and thermal optimisation of the building envelope. Structural glazing is mainly used in prestigious office buildings, shopping centres or modern residential buildings, where design and technical performance are equally in demand.
GEWE-therm® thermal insulation or GEWE-therm® sun sun protection glass with a 4SG edge bond meet all the requirements of modern 2- and 3-fold insulating glass. The thermoplastic spacer specially developed for SG façades is stable and meets the requirements of the standard, such as water vapor and gas tightness. In addition to physical adhesion, the edge seal also offers chemical adhesion, thus ensuring an optimal bond between glass and the tested silicone secondary sealant – thus also meeting the requirements of ETAG 002. The extremely low water vapor and gas permeability of the thermoplastic material ensures an increased service life of the insulating glass.
Highlights
Reduction of condensation formation on the inside of the room, more uniform temperatures
Increased service life of the insulating glass units
Gas-tightness in combination with silicone edge seal
Very high temperature resistance allows use in hot climates
Permanently elastic and at the same time long-term stable
