Sewage Sludge Drying Plants

Externally, they are hardly distinguishable from professional greenhouses – but this does not apply to their function and interior: In solar thermal sewage sludge drying plants , solar energy is used to reduce the water content of the sewage sludge produced in sewage treatment plants, which significantly reduces its volume and weight.

This not only has economic advantages, such as lower transport and disposal costs, but also makes an important contribution to sustainability, as resources are used more efficiently. The sludge is converted from a moist initial state into a stackable, storable or recyclable end product, e.g. fuel or fertiliser. At the same time, the proportion of organic pollutants is greatly reduced by thermal treatment.

The huge, multi-aisled gable roof constructions are usually covered with 4 mm toughened safety glass; the standing walls as well, or alternatively built as insulating glass to store the heat even more efficiently in the hall. Another interesting option for roofing is prism-shaped structural glass, which allows the material to dry more evenly from top to bottom.
