The result is single- or multi-layer façade cladding in which glass plays a major role:

Single-shell façades that combine protection against weather influences, thermal insulation, sound insulation and static load-bearing capacity in a single construction level

Curtain walls are placed in front of the actual supporting structure as a facing shell and can usually only bear the loads from their own weight, which is why they are often comparatively filigree

Double façades designed to optimise a building’s wind, weather and sound insulation. There are different energy and ventilation concepts for them:

• Partially or completely insulating, optionally supplying exhaust air and/or fresh air
• hermetically sealed unit with no connection to the surrounding climate

Analogous to a rear-ventilated façade cladding, the outer layer of the façade takes on the task of absorbing environmental pollution such as solar heat radiation, wind loads and other weather influences. The interior primary façade forms the end to the individual usable areas and normally also fulfils the function of thermal insulation.

Depending on the chosen concept and, in particular, architectural ideas, the mechanical mounting of the high-tech glass can be implemented on its supporting structure in very different ways:

• integrated into mullion-transom constructions with glass mouldings
• fixed to façade components or cable net systems with point holders
• almost butt-to-butt glued to a supporting structure in structural glazing construction
• in the form of a complex, pre-assembled panel system of a curtain construction or a unitised façade, as a front pane of a top-mounted system.

The mostly large-format outer and inner panes of the fa̤ade glazing are manufactured according to property-specific requirements Рas an insulating glass structure as well as monolithic laminated safety glass. The possibilities for refinement are almost endless.
