Shower walls and back walls in the sanitary area
One of the biggest changes in construction in recent decades is the increasing proportion of glass in the sanitary sector – and this is especially true for showers. Where sagging PVC shower curtains used to hang over the shower tray or narrow plastic cubicles were installed, residents now receive spacious walk-in showers with fixed glass sails or similarly transparent concepts with glass sliding or folding doors. Bathrooms have evolved into elegant, open and stylish wellness oases where a shower experience is as refreshing as a summer rain in the open air.
The possibilities also no longer end with transparent or decorative side walls. This is because the shower back walls can also be clad with lacquered or printed glass on the back, forming a high-quality, jointless, easy-to-maintain surface that will last for many years. Mold and dirt don’t stand a chance here. As the icing on the cake, such a construction can of course be backlit to bring out the motif on the glass surface even more intensively.
What applies to the shower back walls also applies to the wall surfaces behind the bathtub, whirlpool or jacuzzi – or simply replaces the tile backsplash on the front wall of the washbasin.
The material used here is robust toughened safety glass (ESG) in 3 to 12 mm thickness, depending on the size of the surfaces and the mechanical conditions.
For the interior of showers, a sealant with GEWE® clean coating is a good idea, which makes dirt, limescale and water roll off even better.
